MusiX

Privacy Policy

Last updated 10 July 2026 · Effective 10 July 2026

The short version

MusiX has no accounts and no sign-up. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number, and we have no server that stores a profile about you.

Your playlists, likes, history, and downloads live only on your device. We do not display a tracking prompt and we do not use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

The trade-off, stated plainly: the free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob, and Google receives limited technical data in order to serve them. A Premium subscription removes ads entirely.

This policy explains what information the MusiX iOS application (“MusiX”, the “App”) handles, why, and what choices you have. It is published by Aquila Space (“we”, “us”), the developer of MusiX.

It applies to the App itself. It does not apply to any third-party service the App connects to, each of which has its own policy — those are linked in §4.

1. Information we do not collect

Because it shapes everything below, it is worth being specific about what MusiX never asks for or receives:

2. Information stored on your device

The App saves the following locally, inside its own sandboxed storage. This data stays on your iPhone or iPad. It is not transmitted to us, and we have no ability to read it.

What Why
Liked songs, playlists you create To show your library when you reopen the App
Play history and recently played To power “recently played” and resume playback
Listening time and play counts To display your own listening statistics back to you. Kept as daily and weekly totals, never shared
Downloaded audio files To allow offline playback
App settings (theme, accent, equalizer, playback) To remember your preferences
Subscription status flag A cached yes/no so Premium features unlock instantly at launch, before Apple's servers respond
A streaming session identifier (visitorId) A token issued by the streaming source, required to fetch audio. It is not created by us and is not tied to your identity

Deleting the App deletes all of it. iOS removes the App's sandbox container on uninstall, which erases every item in the table above. There is no server-side copy to request or delete, because none was ever created.

3. Information processed when you use the App

Content requests

When you browse or search, the App requests music metadata and audio streams from YouTube’s services. Those requests necessarily carry your IP address and a standard user-agent to the service, as any internet request does. We do not log, store, or receive those requests.

Remote configuration

On launch the App fetches a small JSON configuration file from our Firebase Hosting domain to control feature availability and content. This is an ordinary web request. It sends no identifiers about you. Our hosting provider (Google) may retain standard, short-lived server logs containing the requesting IP address, as described in Firebase’s privacy documentation.

Push notifications

If — and only if — you grant notification permission, Apple issues a device token which is passed to Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you announcements about new music and features. This token identifies a device, not a person, and carries no personal information. You can revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings › Notifications › MusiX, and no further notifications will be delivered.

Advertising (free tier only)

The free tier displays ads supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure them, the AdMob SDK collects limited technical data, which may include your device model, operating system version, coarse (country-level) location inferred from IP address, and ad interaction events.

Because MusiX does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, iOS withholds the IDFA from the App, and ads served are therefore non-personalised — selected by context rather than by a profile of you built across other apps. Google’s handling of this data is governed by its own policy, linked below.

Subscribing to Premium removes all advertising, and with it the AdMob data flow described in this section.

Purchases

Subscriptions are transacted by Apple through StoreKit. Apple tells the App only whether an active entitlement exists. We receive no card number, no billing address, and no personal detail from the transaction.

4. Third-party services

MusiX embeds the following SDKs and connects to the following services. Each processes data under its own privacy policy, which governs that processing:

Service Purpose in MusiX Policy
Google AdMob Serving ads to free-tier users Google Ads
Firebase Cloud Messaging Delivering push notifications Firebase
Firebase Hosting Serving remote configuration and images Firebase
Apple StoreKit Processing subscriptions Apple
YouTube Music catalogue, artwork, and audio streams Google

5. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We hold no database of MusiX users, so there is nothing to sell.

6. Children

MusiX is rated for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will act on it.

7. Your rights and choices

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) grant rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing.

These rights are satisfied structurally in MusiX: because no personal data ever leaves your device, you already hold all of it. You can exercise each right directly:

For data held by Google or Apple as a result of your use of the App, please direct requests to those companies using the policies in §4. If you are in the EEA or UK and wish to lodge a complaint, you may contact your local supervisory authority.

8. Security

Data stored by the App is protected by iOS app sandboxing and the device-level encryption that applies when your device is locked with a passcode. Network requests use HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Retention

We retain nothing, because we receive nothing. On-device data persists until you delete it or uninstall the App. Third parties retain data according to their own published schedules.

10. International transfers

We operate no servers of our own. The third-party services above are global and may process requests on infrastructure outside your country, including the United States, under their own safeguards and transfer mechanisms.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and where the change is significant we will surface a notice in the App. Continuing to use MusiX after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy.

12. Contact us

Questions about this policy, or about privacy in MusiX, can be sent to us directly. We aim to respond within 30 days.
